Frequently Asked Qustions
Kisan Sarathi is a joint initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It is implemented by Digital India Corporation (DIC) and Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI).
At its core, the platform is powered by the Interactive Information Dissemination System (IIDS) — a robust, two-way communication system designed to facilitate seamless information exchange between farmers and agricultural experts.
IIDS operates on both push and pull mechanisms, allowing farmers to actively seek (pull) or passively receive (push) agriculture-related information using their mobile phones. It integrates multiple technologies, including:
- A smartphone application
- An interactive web portal
- An Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)
The system features a mobile interface on the front end for farmers and a web-based interface on the back end for experts. Communication flows bi-directionally, enabling the transmission of voice messages, text, images, and videos—from farmers to experts and vice versa. This ensures timely, accessible, and context-specific advisory support tailored to the diverse needs of the farming community.
Kisan Sarathi connects farmers with agricultural experts, enabling them to receive timely and region-specific advisories on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, weather updates, market prices, training sessions, agriculture related government schemes, PM KISAN status update and more. The platform aims to empower farmers through real-time support and knowledge-sharing.
How it helps:
- Raise queries to KVK experts.
- Get expert advice in your language.
- Receive updates via SMS and app.
- Join training sessions or video conferencing.
- Access weather, market information, Government scheme, PM KISAN Status.
